NTFS stands for the New Technology File System. This is the file allocation and access directory created for versions of the Windows operating system beginning with Windows XP. When we discuss the need to undelete NTFS files, we are simply examining the basic file recovery process when desired files had been stored on our computer’s hard drive. We are also looking into recovery of files stored on digital storage devices connected to our computer that are also formatted using NTFS. When using conventional data recovery products, the process required to undelete these files differs greatly depending upon whether you are attempting recovery of an internal hard drive or externally stored files.
File Finder was created to allow one simple process for any type of data recovery. File Finder loads on to your computer by means of its CD/DVD disk drive. The File Finder program will actually start your computer and run it without the assistance of your original Windows operating system. File Finder will open your internal hard drive on its own and allow you access for copying of files stored on that drive. This includes any files that have been deleted from your hard drive. File Finder is powerful enough to recognize the original content of any deleted files and restore that content including the original file name. If you have a digital storage device connected to your computer such as a compact flash drive or a digital camera memory card, File Finder will also allow you to search through that digital media and recover lost files.
