word-documentIf you have been opening and working on Microsoft Word documents that were stored on an external book drive or other type of external digital storage such as a flash drive or memory card, using File Finder to recover Word document files will be easy. All you need to do is load File Finder onto your computer and choose the drive your external digital media has been inserted into from the File Finder drop down menu. File Finder can scan through and recover files from most external digital media in less than 1 minute. But, if you have been working on your desktop and had neglected to save a Microsoft Word document before closing it, the process of recovery is far more difficult. Mind you, using File Finder you still can recover word document files, but it will take a little more work. As usual, we begin by loading into our computer’s CD/DVD disk drive the special File Finder recovery disk. You will have created this from the File Finder installation package.

Using File Finder to retrieve Word files

Click on the File Finder help and instructions button and proceed through File Finder level one data recovery. You will be guided through every process by simple instructions and illustrated screenshots. File Finder will create a list of all recoverable files found on your computer’s hard drive. There are folders which contain files such as Microsoft Word documents that were started but never labeled and saved. It will take a little while but if you save these to a folder and open them one by one you are sure to find the Microsoft Word document you have accidentally neglected to save.
To be honest most data recovery programs can be used to recover and save Microsoft Word documents. But all of these file recovery tools put you at risk of overwriting your Word documents before you get a chance to rescue them.
