While it is true that not too many people continue to use floppy disks for storage of documents and other important digital files, it is also true that quite a few of us have files saved on these disks from work done years ago. Because floppy disks are simple magnetic digital storage devices, recovering lost data on them is just as easy as recovering files deleted from any newer type of media. A few points to consider when attempting floppy disk recovery are that 3.5 inch floppies that have been lying around for several years tend to get sticky and not want to spin easily. Take tip of the pen and use it to spin the internal floppy disk inside plastic shells several times before attempting to open the disk. Many times when you attempt to access the files on these old floppies the conventional means of access that is simply using your computer’s file browser, fails to find an open all of the stored files. For this reason we recommend the use File Finder for your floppy disk recovery.
The File Finder data recovery program was designed to open and access files with missing or damaged content. Files stored on 3.5 inch floppies meet this criteria exactly. Once you have loaded File Finder onto your computer and inserted your floppy disk, choose from the File Finder drop down menu that drive into which the floppy has been inserted. Using the File Finder instructions, direct the program to completely scan that drive containing your 3.5 inch floppy. In under a minute File Finder will locate and catalog every file stored on that floppy disk. The files are presented to you in this form and you can either choose specific files from that list to recover or simply opt to recover every file.
