Before you download data recovery software onto your computer there is an essential piece of information you need to be aware of. Programs and files downloaded onto your computer’s hard drive do not necessarily store in the exact same position on that drive. In fact file information can be scattered throughout your computer’s disk drive jumping from sector to sector. If you download data recovery software directly onto your computer’s hard drive there is a 90% likelihood that the data recovery program will download directly on top of any recently deleted files that you hoped to recover. Once you overwrite those files, recovery is impossible. The point of all this being you simply cannot download data recovery software onto a computer from which you need to recover deleted files. Most data recovery programs take great pains to never mention that you must download their program on to an alternative computer and then connect by means of a cable that computer’s motherboard directly to the hard drive on which you plan to recover lost files.

A superior alternative method of file recovery is to download the File Finder installation package on to a second or spare computer and using that computer create the included File Finder recovery disk. This disk will allow File Finder to load and start any computer from which you need to recover deleted files. By loading File Finder and starting your affected computer directly from the CD/DVD disk drive there’s never any chance of destroying information you need to recover that is stored on your computer’s internal hard drive.
