compact-flash-cardCompact flash cards are tremendously simple to use. They range in size from 1 GB to 16 GB and are available for purchase for anywhere from 5 to 40 dollars. They are a proven to be safe and reliable means of storing valuable data. However, as with any digital storage media they are certainly not immune to human error. And when you delete files from a compact flash card they are not temporarily stored in the Windows recycle bin from where they can easily be recovered. Deleted compact flash data is marked as space available on the flash drive and can easily be overwritten.

Hopefully if you have accidentally deleted files from your compact flash card you will notice this quickly and immediately use File Finder to recover all of your lost or deleted files. Many times when using compact flash drives we inadvertently reformat that drive. This will delete all of the stored files on that drive. Once again if you use File Finder to scan that compact flash drive, the program will recognize all of the original file information, restore the original file names, and give you the option of saving those deleted files to a new location.

Because we will be working with an external drive the compact flash data recovery software need not be downloaded to a spare or separate computer. Simply download the File Finder install package, and open it on your computer’s desktop. The package will guide you through the process of creating a special file recovery disk. Creating the disk simply requires burning a CD or DVD. The created disc can now be loaded into this computer or any other Windows based personal computer that has file recovery problems. This includes computers that will not start and load.

In this case that digital media storage device will be a compact flash drive. Start File Finder from the program menu and once the program loads choose the drive holding your compact flash card from the drop down menu. Click on find files and within seconds all of the deleted and existing files on your entire compact flash drive will be listed before you. You can then choose to recover any or all of these to separate storage or a folder on your computer’s hard drive. Compact flash data recovery is fast and easy because these flash cards use solid state memory they scan very quickly and seldom permanently lose files.

File Finder supports all currently used types of compact flash cards such as the popular SanDisk models. The program also supports every size of a USB flash drives and memory cards currently in use including SD cards and older MMC card formats.
